About Me
Dear Kindergarten Families,
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! This is an exciting time for your child, although he/she may be a little apprehensive about going to school. This is also a time of mixed emotions for parents---joy that your child is ready for school, but sadness because he/she is no longer a "baby"! The first day of school will mark one of the most important milestones in your child's life.
Be assured that I will do my best to make this school year an enjoyable time for your child, but also a time filled with real learning. Please do not think your child will be just "playing" all day! The skills we practice daily in kindergarten are the building blocks for your child's future success in school and in life!
I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Brenda Miceli. I am beginning my 34th year as a teacher. This will be my 27th year teaching kindergarten for Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools. (I have taught many other grades for Carman, but I enjoy kindergarten the best.) I graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education. In addition to teaching at Carman-Ainsworth, I have also taught in Arkansas and in Florence, Italy.

On a more personal note, I have been married for 31 wonderful years to my husband, Michael. We have been blessed with three sons, Anthony (Kettering University Graduate), Zachary (Oakland University Graduate), and Jonathan (Fenton HS Graduate). We also have two four-legged members of our "family"; Oreo the cat and Captain the chocolate lab puppy. I am sure the kids will come home with many interesting stories about my pets.
